Family Violence Safety Plan Guide

Be Prepared:

  1. Develop a safety plan.
  2. Arrange to have a place to go.
  3. Make copies and hide important papers.
  4. Have important phone numbers available.
  5. Pack and hide an overnight bag.
  6. Arrange an emergency signal with neighbors.

 

During An Incident:

  1. Get out if you can.
  2. Call for help (911).
  3. Avoid rooms with only one exit.
  4. Avoid kitchen, bathroom and garage.
  5. Trust your instincts to keep you and your children safe.

 

Other Safety Tips:

  1. Obtain a protective order.
  2. Change locks, secure doors and windows.
  3. Arrange to have someone stay with you.
  4. Tell trusted friends and family about your situation.
